Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport (SRQ)

Frequently Asked Questions About Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport (SRQ)

Visitors to Sarasota, Siesta Key, Lido Key and the surrounding areas are now flying in directly from a whopping 47 destinations to date.

More and more people are starting to appreciate the beauty and accessibility of our wonderful city, which is very much open for business.

Over 277,000 passengers used the airport in the last month alone (March 2021 stats)!

For those people who haven’t traveled through SRQ before, here are a few of the FAQs that our chauffeurs have been asked recently:

1) How long does it take to get from Siesta Key to the airport?

From the village or south of the island, you should allow at least 30 minutes for the journey by car, but the roads can get pretty busy during rush hour and at weekends so please allow for that.

2) Can a friend or relative pick me up outside the terminal?

The short term car park allows free parking for up to 30 minutes. After that, normal airport parking rates apply. Vehicles are permitted to pull up curb-side but only for active loading and unloading. There are several officers enforcing this rule. Vehicles left unattended are towed away.

3) How long should I arrive before my flight?

Currently, the airport authorities suggest that domestic passengers should arrive at least one hour before departure time. International passengers should allow two hours.

4) What amenities are at the airport?

Pre-security, you will find a Dunkin’ Donuts, a Dewar’s Clubhouse Bar & Grille and a Freshens frozen yogurt / smoothie bar. There is also a TravelMart and a PGA Tour Shop for golf lovers.
Post-security, there is a Starbucks, two cafes and a Paradies airport store.

A terminal map is available here.

Hours of opening vary according to flight schedules so bear that in mind if you are arriving early.

5) Can I rent  / hire a vehicle?

At the time of writing, there is a huge shortage of rental cars in this area. There have been reports of extremely long lines and astronomical daily rates (up to $300 per day).

6) Is the airport family friendly?

The airport is compact and the service is very efficient. There are plenty of restrooms and a private breast-feeding area near the bottom of the elevators.

7) Can I get an Uber or taxi from the airport?

An onsite limo service can be pre-booked, along with other similar companies at the ground transportation exit towards the end of the baggage lounge.
There is an Uber / Lyft / ride-share pick-up area that can get very busy and people have reported wait times of over an hour.

Please note that there is currently more demand than supply for transportation so we strongly advise that you arrange your airport transfer before your trip.
